F-150 Leveling Kit Guide: 2, 2.5 or 3 Inch?
Mis à jour le 12 octobre 2026

The F-150 is one of the most leveled trucks in America. Most leave the factory with the front sitting lower than the rear, and a leveling kit fixes that for a cleaner stance and room for bigger tires. Here is how to pick the right height and kit for your truck.
How much rake does your F-150 have?
Measure from the center of each wheel hub straight up to the fender lip, front and rear, with the truck on level ground and the bed empty. The difference between rear and front is roughly how much leveling you need. On many F-150s it is around 2 inches, but it varies by generation, trim, drivetrain and options.
2 vs 2.5 vs 3 inch at a glance
Tire sizes are typical values. What really fits depends on your wheel width and offset, tire brand and how much rubbing you accept at full lock. Compare sizes with our tire size calculator before you buy.
| Kit height | Typical result | Typical tire size | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 inch | Close to level, slight rake may remain | Up to about 33 in | Most affordable, keeps factory geometry closest to stock |
| 2.5 inch | Level on many 4x4 trucks | 33 in, sometimes 34 in | The most popular height for current F-150s |
| 3 inch | Front can sit slightly higher than rear | 34 - 35 in with the right wheels | Often needs upgraded upper control arms and some trimming |
2WD vs 4WD
Many leveling kits use different part numbers for 2WD and 4WD trucks because the front suspension differs. Always check the drivetrain listed in the product details, together with your model year.
Strut spacers vs leveling coilovers
- Strut spacers ("pucks"): the most affordable option. They sit on top of the factory strut and keep the stock ride feel.
- Leveling coilovers: replace the complete front strut assembly. Height is often adjustable and the ride is usually better, at a higher price.
- If your factory struts are worn, a complete leveling strut or coilover can make more sense than spacers on old parts.
Generation and trim notes
- 2004 - 2008, 2009 - 2014, 2015 - 2020 and 2021+ trucks use different kits. Match the kit to your generation.
- Raptor models use a completely different suspension and need Raptor-specific parts.
- Tremor and other factory-lifted trims may already sit higher. Check the kit's fitment notes before ordering.
Install and alignment
- A bolt-on strut spacer kit typically takes 2 to 4 hours in a home garage with basic tools.
- A wheel alignment is required after any change in ride height.
- Check headlight aim afterwards, and recalibrate front sensors or cameras if your truck requires it.
