Toyota Tacoma Leveling Kit vs Lift Kit: Which One Do You Need?

Tacomas sit noticeably nose-down. A 2.5 to 3 inch front level or a mid-travel coilover setup is the usual first step.

After any change in ride height, get an alignment. Headlights may also need to be re-aimed.

Popular Tacoma lifts are complete coilover and rear leaf-spring packs of about 3 inch. Bigger lifts need upper control arms to keep alignment and ride quality.

Bigger lifts change how the truck drives and tows. Consider your daily use, not just the look.

• You want 32 inch tires and a level stance: leveling kit.
• You want 33 inch tires or serious off-road clearance: lift kit.
• You tow heavy trailers often: keep it modest and choose quality shocks.
• You lease the truck or want easy resale: leveling kits are easier to undo.
