排气升级：声浪、流量与合法性

大多数皮卡排气升级是为了声浪和少量流量提升。桥后排气只更换消音器和尾喉，最简单。猫后排气更换三元催化器之后的全部管路，对声浪和流量的改变更明显。
排放部件则是另一回事。三元催化器、柴油颗粒过滤器和 EGR 系统是美国联邦法律对道路车辆的强制要求。在全部 50 个州，拆除它们在道路上行驶都是违法的，并可能导致年检不合格。请只购买标明在您所在州合法的排放替换件。
加州及采用 CARB 规定的州，许多改装件需要行政命令（EO）编号。如果您住在这些地区，请选择获得 CARB 认证的零件。
常见问题
+猫后排气还是桥后排气？
桥后排气更便宜、安装更快，主要改变声浪。猫后排气更换的管路更多，声浪和流量变化更明显，通常还能带来少量动力提升。
+新排气在高速上会有共振嗡嗡声吗？
一些激进的排气在巡航时会产生低沉的嗡嗡声（drone）。如果经常长途驾驶，请选择带谐振器或标明低共振的排气。
+升级排气后需要刷 ECU 吗？
猫后或桥后排气不需要刷 ECU。头段和下水管通常需要，并且可能影响排放合规。
